Timberbuilt designs and builds architecturally distinct, sustainable timber frame homes across the continent, and we’re proud to offer our services throughout Kansas.

We provide customizable designs, timber framing, and on-site assembly to create beautiful homes that are energy efficient, comfortable, and engineered to last generations.

Kansas’s wide-open plains, gently rolling hills, and charming small towns make it a natural setting for timber frame homes that balance strength, beauty, and sustainability.

Our designs are well-suited to the Sunflower State, whether you’re dreaming of a homestead on the prairies, a riverside cabin along the Kansas River, or a farmhouse in the heart of the state. We build homes to provide lasting value, energy efficiency, and timeless appeal that enhances the unique character of the area’s diverse settings.

Kansas’s landscape invites classic and practical home styles, which our timber frame designs can enhance.

Across the prairies and farmland of central and western Kansas, a timber frame home can present a Midwestern farmhouse aesthetic with a flexible, modern layout. Picture wrap-around porches, large open interiors, and exposed beams, designed to reflect the iconic Kansas plains. Our layouts include ample gathering spaces, large kitchens, and mudrooms that complement rural living, providing all the functionality you need with the warmth of timber architecture.

Along the river, our homes can capture waterfront views and invite a sense of tranquility. A timber-framed cabin with large windows, outdoor decks, and covered patios fits seamlessly with the natural beauty of the riverbanks, providing a peaceful retreat for weekend getaways or a full-time residence.

Our designs allow for custom outdoor spaces that connect the home to the surrounding landscape, making the most of Kansas’s scenic riverside locations.

In the Flint Hills, where the terrain rolls with lush grasses and wildflowers, our designs can take on a lodge or cabin style, with options for stone accents, wrap-around decks, and open floor plans that merge with the surrounding natural beauty. We also offer walkout basements in many of our designs, which can help adapt a house to sloped terrain and provide additional living space.

Kansas experiences hot summers, chilly winters, and strong seasonal winds, making energy efficiency a priority for any home. Our timber frame homes are built with structural insulated panels (SIPs) that create a tight, highly insulated building envelope, designed to keep interiors comfortable and energy-efficient year-round.

In the summer, especially in the humid eastern and central regions, our homes are designed to keep interiors cool by reducing heat transfer and minimizing the demand on air conditioning. SIPs create an airtight barrier that prevents hot summer air from entering, reducing indoor humidity levels and improving air quality—a significant advantage over traditional ‘stick-built’ homes.

In colder months, particularly in the northern and western parts of Kansas, SIPs retain warmth and minimize heat loss, making our homes cost-effective to heat and comfortable even during chilly winter spells. We incorporate passive solar design elements, with carefully positioned windows and overhangs that allow natural sunlight to warm the home in winter while providing shade in summer.

This design approach helps create a steady indoor climate that works in harmony with seasonal changes.

Kansas’s open plains and seasonal extremes demand homes that are built to endure.

Each timber frame home we design is engineered for its exact location, meeting all local building codes and standards to ensure safety, resilience, and comfort. In Kansas’s expansive prairies and valleys, where strong winds and severe storms can occur, our solid timber construction provides natural wind resistance, giving you a structure that stands firm in challenging conditions.

For properties near rivers or in low-lying areas, we offer elevated foundation options and walkout basements, which provide added protection against potential flooding while adding valuable living space. These features are especially beneficial for homes built along the Kansas River or in regions prone to heavy spring rains.

In areas that experience winter snow and seasonal ice, our SIPs and timber framing ensure that homes are capable of handling snow loads, keeping your home stable and secure throughout the year. Each of our homes is crafted to endure your location’s environmental demands, with strength, beauty, and energy efficiency. Our timber frame homes bring lasting value to Kansas’s diverse landscapes.
