We provide customizable designs, timber framing, and on-site assembly to create beautiful homes that are sustainable, comfortable, and engineered to last generations.

Timberbuilt homes are an excellent fit for the Bluegrass State, whether you’re building a hillside retreat in the Appalachian region, a farmhouse in the horse country near Lexington, or a rustic cabin by one of Kentucky’s many lakes.

Our homes bring durability, charm, and energy efficiency to Kentucky’s diverse settings.

Kentucky’s varied regions each offer their own character.

In the eastern Appalachian region, near towns like Pikeville and Hazard, a walkout basement could be ideal for the terrain, providing extra living space without disrupting the natural slope of the land. A basement on a steep property can feel a lot like a first floor with lots of natural light and easy access to the outdoors.

In Central Kentucky, particularly in the rolling hills and horse country near Lexington, you can relect the area’s agricultural heritage with a classic farmhouse style. A homestead with wide, covered porches, exposed beams, and a gabled roof recalls the charm of Kentucky’s iconic horse farms.

With flexible floor plans, our designs allow for custom touches like barn-style doors, open-concept kitchens, and spacious gathering areas, creating a home that feels both historic and modern.

For those drawn to Kentucky’s lakes and rivers, you’ll find our designs work well on the water as we strive to embrace outdoor living and take full advantage of everything your site has to offer. Our homes offer a variety of porches, patios, decks and exterior doorways to integrate outdoor living areas.

TIMBERBUILT IN KENTUCKY

This recent Timberbuilt project in Owensboro is part of our Cabin Series.

Our team assembled the home using timbers and structural insulated panels (SIPs) which make up the walls and the roof.

Kentucky experiences a range of seasonal weather, from humid summers to cold winters, and we design homes to thrive in variable conditions.

We combine heavy wood timber framing with structural insulated panels (SIPs) to create a tight, well-insulated building envelope that helps regulate indoor temperatures, providing comfort and reducing energy costs year-round.

In the summer, especially in the humid regions of western and central Kentucky, SIPs can keep your interior cool while reducing the need for heavy air conditioning use. The airtight SIP construction also improves indoor air quality, which helps reduce allergens and controls humidity—especially important in Kentucky’s lush, green environment where mold can be a concern.

In winter, the cooler, elevated areas of eastern Kentucky benefit from SIPs outstanding ability to retain warmth and minimize heat loss. We can also help you incorporate passive solar gain, with strategically positioned windows and overhangs that capture sunlight in the winter while shading interiors in the summer. This energy-conscious design ensures comfort in Kentucky’s varied climate, from the rolling hills to the mountain valleys.

Kentucky’s environment, with its potential for winter snow, summer storms, and varied topography, demands homes that are built for resilience.

We engineer each of our projects to withstand mother nature and to thrive for generations. We design homes to meet or exceed all local building codes, including areas like central and western Kentucky, where high winds and occasional tornadoes can be a concern.

Timber frame homes are a safe choice for these open landscapes, providing natural wind resistance thanks to their solid construction of dense, durable components.

With their blend of beauty, durability, and energy efficiency, timber frame homes are an ideal choice for Kentucky’s varied landscapes. Whether you’re building a rustic cabin, a charming farmhouse, or a mountain lodge, our designs bring lasting value and comfort to every corner of the Bluegrass State, creating homes that are as timeless as Kentucky’s scenic beauty.
