Timberbuilt designs and builds energy-efficient, architecturally distinct timber frame homes from coast to coast, and we’re proud to offer our services throughout Maine.

We provide customizable designs, timber framing, and on-site assembly to create beautiful homes that are sustainable, comfortable, and engineered to last generations.

In Maine, where rocky coastlines merge with vast forests and quaint coastal towns, a home must resonate with the spirit of both land and sea. Whether it’s a coastal retreat tucked away in Bar Harbor, a rustic lodge nestled in the Western Mountains, or a modern residence in the bustling streets of Portland, Timberbuilt’s timber frame homes are designed to complement Maine’s rugged natural beauty and its diverse, often harsh, climate. Learn more about our homes and our services here.

Maine’s landscape, characterized by its sprawling pine forests, serene lakes, and dramatic coastlines, offers a rich palette for Timberbuilt’s adaptable home designs. Our homes are conceived with the idea of blending indoors and outdoors, featuring expansive decks, large porches, and generous windows that frame the picturesque views—whether it’s the sweeping vistas of Acadia National Park or the tranquil waters of Moosehead Lake.

Given Maine’s varied terrain, our designs often include options like elevated decks for coastal flood zones or walkout basements perfect for hilly or mountainous sites, providing additional functional space without disturbing the natural topography.

Architecturally, Maine’s homes range from traditional New England cottages in coastal villages like Camden to more contemporary styles in urban areas. Timberbuilt homes can be customized with a variety of materials, allowing each structure to harmonize with its specific surroundings while reflecting the owner’s personal style.

TIMBERBUILT IN MAINE

Our install team was raving about the views of Acadia National Park at this recent Timberbuilt project in Winterharbor.

We assembled this Olive Series home using timbers and structural insulated panels (SIPs) which make up the walls and the roof.

Maine’s climate, with its cold, snowy winters and relatively mild summers, demands highly efficient and durable construction.

Our homes utilize structural insulated panels (SIPs), creating an energy-efficient envelope that maintains a comfortable indoor environment throughout the year.

In regions prone to heavy snow, like Aroostook County, the structural strength of timber frames combined with the insulating properties of SIPs ensures that homes remain warm and energy costs are kept to a minimum.

During humid summers, the same energy-efficient design helps keep homes cool and comfortable. The tight seals and superior insulation provided by SIPs are particularly effective in Maine’s variable climate, reducing the need for extensive heating systems in winter and minimizing cooling needs during summer, thereby lowering overall energy consumption and costs.

The resilience of a home is crucial in Maine, where weather can include nor’easters, heavy snowfall, and occasional harsh coastal storms.

Timberbuilt homes are engineered to meet the specific challenges of their sites, ensuring they withstand local conditions. Each home is tailored to account for factors such as snow loads, potential flooding, and wind resistance, aligning with Maine’s stringent building codes and environmental conditions.

The durability of timber framing, when combined with the robust protection offered by SIPs, means that these homes not only endure Maine’s demanding climate but also age gracefully within it.

For those enchanted by Maine’s iconic landscapes and seeking a home that embodies both beauty and resilience, a Timberbuilt house offers a customized living solution. It’s more than just a house; it’s a retreat that respects and reflects the natural splendor of Maine while providing a warm, enduring place to call home.
