Whether you’re building a mountain lodge near Leavenworth, a home in Seattle’s suburbs, or a cabin in the rolling hills of the Palouse, a timber frame home is perfectly suited to Washington’s varied environments and climates.

FEATURED WASHINGTON PROJECT

This recent Timberbuilt project in Gig Harbor, Washington began with our Olive Series design.

The home was built with timbers and energy efficient SIP panels.

Washington’s dramatic natural beauty demands homes that make the most of the scenery. In the western part of the state, near Seattle, Olympia, and the coastal areas, our homes can provide the perfect balance of modern design and rustic warmth. Open floor plans, large windows, and expansive porches allow you to take full advantage of the misty mornings and forested views, while natural wood exteriors blend seamlessly with the lush Pacific Northwest environment.

In the mountainous regions, such as Leavenworth and Stevens Pass, Timberbuilt homes are ideal for sloped lots and rugged landscapes.

Imagine a timber-framed mountain home with vaulted ceilings, walkout basements, and panoramic windows that frame views of the Cascade Range. The steep terrain of the Cascades is perfect for our designs, which incorporate outdoor living spaces like wrap-around decks that allow you to enjoy the alpine air year-round.

Designs can be adapted to fit local styles, whether you prefer the rustic charm of a ski lodge or a more modern take on mountain living.

Washington’s varied climate—wet and mild in the west, dry and warm in the east, and cold and snowy in the mountains—requires homes with exceptional energy efficiency.

Timberbuilt homes are constructed with structural insulated panels (SIPs) that provide a tight, energy-efficient envelope, perfect for maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures in Washington’s diverse weather conditions.

In western Washington, where damp, cool weather is the norm for much of the year, SIPs help keep moisture out and warmth in. Homes in areas like Forks or Port Angeles benefit from being airtight, which helps regulate humidity levels and reduces energy costs. The insulation provided by SIPs also ensures that your home remains warm during the winter months without relying heavily on heating systems.

SIPs ensure that homes built in the mountains stay warm and comfortable even during the coldest months.

In eastern Washington, the same SIPs that keep homes warm in winter also work to block out the heat, reducing the need for air conditioning and keeping indoor temperatures stable. In cities like Spokane, where summer highs can reach the 90s, a SIP house can help manage energy use and create a more comfortable living environment year-round.

Washington’s environment can be as challenging as it is beautiful. Timberbuilt homes are designed to endure the state’s diverse conditions, from the heavy rains of the western coast to the deep snows of the Cascades and the high winds of the eastern plains.

Wherever you choose to build, we engineer your home for its specific location and modify our designs to exceed all local building codes and standards.

In the Cascades, where snow loads are significant and winters long, Timberbuilt homes are engineered to handle heavy snow loads. Towns like Stevens Pass, which regularly sees snowfall totals over 450 inches per year, require homes that can bear the weight while staying energy-efficient and structurally sound. Timberbuilt’s timber frame construction is naturally suited for these conditions, providing the strength necessary to support large loads without sacrificing the beauty and openness of your home.

For those building on Washington’s coast or in the rainy regions near Seattle and Olympia, Timberbuilt homes can withstand constant moisture and prevent water infiltration. The airtight SIP construction minimizes the risk of mold and water damage, ensuring your home stays dry and comfortable, even in the wettest conditions.

In eastern Washington, where high winds can whip across the plains and hills, the structural integrity of your timber frame helps it stand firm.

Whether you’re building in the shadow of Mount Rainier, along the shores of the Puget Sound, or in the rolling fields of the Palouse, Timberbuilt homes are designed to last. Our timber frames combine the beauty of natural materials with modern energy efficiency and strength, making them the perfect fit for Washington’s varied landscapes and climates.
